Danielle Fishel Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis on Podcast

Danielle Fishel, best known for her role as Topanga Lawrence in “Boy Meets World,” recently disclosed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. In an episode of her podcast, “Pod Meets World,” Fishel shared the news with her co-hosts and former co-stars, Rider Strong and Will Friedle, who were among the first to know.

Fishel explained that she has been diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, a form of breast cancer. She reassured her fans that it is very early, technically stage zero. She provided more information, stating that she was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS with micro-invasion.

Despite the diagnosis, Fishel remained optimistic and stated that she is going to be fine. She plans to undergo surgery to remove the cancer and will also require follow-up treatment. The actress emphasized the importance of staying on top of annual mammograms and shared that she caught the cancer early because she promptly made an appointment after receiving a reminder text about her yearly mammogram.

Fishel’s decision to share her diagnosis was motivated by the hope of encouraging other women to prioritize their health and be proactive about getting regular mammograms. She urged listeners to take advantage of early detection, stating that if one has to find out they have cancer, it’s best to catch it at stage zero.

Throughout this challenging time, Fishel has had to make significant decisions regarding her treatment. She met with oncologists and radiologists, and she still has some “big decisions” to make. However, she remains positive and determined to overcome this hurdle.

Fishel’s co-hosts, Strong and Friedle, expressed their support and reassurance. Strong, who knows several people dealing with breast cancer, found Fishel’s diagnosis mindboggling. He encouraged fans to get checked and emphasized the importance of early detection. Friedle echoed the sentiment, stating that Fishel will be fine despite some difficult days ahead.

Danielle Fishel’s diagnosis serves as a reminder of the importance of regular mammograms and early detection. Her decision to share her story demonstrates her commitment to raising awareness and encouraging others to prioritize their health. By catching her cancer at stage zero, Fishel has given herself the best chance of a positive outcome.
