Child Fatally Struck by Car in Northwest Houston

A tragic incident occurred in northwest Houston when a child was fatally hit by a car, as reported by the Houston Police Department. The accident took place at approximately 8:41 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of 5601 North Shepherd Drive.

Details of the Incident

The victim, estimated to be between 10 to 15 years old, was crossing from the east side of Shepherd Drive towards a store on the west side. While successfully navigating the northbound lanes, the child was unfortunately struck by a vehicle upon entering the southbound lanes.

According to investigators, the driver had a green light at the time of the accident, and the child was not using a designated crosswalk. Tragically, first responders pronounced the child dead at the scene.

Cooperation with Authorities

The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the police investigation. At this time, no charges have been filed, and the identity of the victim has not been released.
