A car crashed into Sidelines Sports Bar and Grill in Salem, Massachusetts, on Friday morning, resulting in two people being taken to the hospital. According to the Salem Fire Department, the incident occurred at approximately 8:35 a.m. Officials believe the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to slam into the building. The impact left a substantial hole in the side of the restaurant.
The 47-year-old female driver and a 45-year-old female passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by the Salem Police Department. Fortunately, the restaurant was not open at the time of the incident. Owner Adam Drohan expressed relief that no one was seriously hurt, stating, “The car was here number one thing I was worried about was just the driver was okay. Beyond thankful, that’s the most important thing, of course, safety is the number one thing.”
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the driver will face charges of negligent operation and a marked lanes violation. However, there were no signs of impairment detected during the investigation. So, this is what it took, we’ll put the drive-thru in.”
