Britney Spears Enlists Charli XCX and Julia Michaels for Long-Awaited Album

Chart-Topping Songwriters Charli XCX and Julia Michaels to Collaborate on Britney Spears’ New Album

Britney Spears’ highly anticipated 10th studio album is attracting top-tier songwriters, according to sources. Charli XCX and Julia Michaels are among the talented lyricists who have been chosen to write tracks for what is expected to be the Princess of Pop’s first full-length release in nearly a decade.

Although the project is still in its early stages, Spears’ team has already secured the involvement of Charli XCX and Julia Michaels. However, no new material has been recorded yet.

The news of Charli XCX’s involvement was first reported by The US Sun. Representatives for Spears, Charli, and Michaels have not responded to requests for comment from Page Six.

Britney Spears’ Musical Hiatus and Recent Collaborations

Since her 2016 album “Glory,” Britney Spears has taken a break from releasing new music. In 2019, she announced a hiatus to care for her father during his life-threatening illness. She later described this break as a strike, expressing her desire to prevent her estranged father from benefiting from her music sales while she was under conservatorship.

After a Los Angeles judge terminated her 13-year conservatorship in 2021, Spears released collaborations with Elton John (“Hold Me Closer”) in 2022 and Will.i.am (“Mind Your Business”) in 2023.

In August, Page Six reported that Britney was planning to record a new album amidst her divorce from Sam Asghari. However, she decided to focus on the release of her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” in October. In the memoir, she candidly discussed her struggles with performing again after years of trauma.

Charli XCX and Julia Michaels’ Previous Work with Britney Spears

Julia Michaels previously collaborated with Britney Spears on seven songs from the “Glory” album, including the single “Slumber Party.”

Charli XCX, on the other hand, submitted demos for Spears’ 2013 album “Britney Jean,” but none of them made it onto the final tracklist. Despite this, Charli expressed her honor and admiration for Britney, stating that she is always thrilled whenever Britney reaches out to collaborate.

This month marks the 25th anniversary of Britney’s debut album, “…Baby One More Time.”
