Tragedy Strikes Middleboro: 11-Year-Old Victim Identified in Devastating House Fire

In a heartbreaking turn of events, authorities have released the identity of the young girl who lost her life in a house fire that ravaged a home in Middleboro, Massachusetts. Jasmine Lane, just 11 years old, tragically perished in the early morning blaze, leaving a community in mourning and investigators searching for answers.

The horrifying incident unfolded on Saturday morning when emergency crews responded to a distress call reporting a structure fire at 27 Pearl St. Witnesses on the scene described heavy flames engulfing both the first and second floors of the house, making it nearly impossible for anyone to enter.

Despite the valiant efforts of first responders, who launched an aggressive attack on the fire to prevent further damage to nearby buildings, they were unable to reach Jasmine in time. It was only after the flames were extinguished that her lifeless body was discovered inside the charred remains of her home.

Tragically, Jasmine’s death was not the only injury resulting from this devastating event. A 61-year-old woman suffered serious burn injuries and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital by ambulance. Additionally, a 59-year-old man and a juvenile female were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.

In response to the severity of the fire, firefighters from neighboring towns, including Raynham, Bridgewater, and Lakeville, provided mutual aid at the scene. Meanwhile, firefighters from Carver stepped in to cover Middleborough stations so that resources could be fully dedicated to containing the blaze.

As investigators delve into the cause of this tragic incident, multiple agencies have joined forces to piece together what happened. The Middleborough Fire Department, Middleborough Police Department, State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office are all actively involved in the ongoing investigation. While it is too early to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, authorities have preliminarily stated that no foul play is suspected.

This is a developing news story, and as more information becomes available, WHDH 7News will continue to keep viewers updated on-air and online.
