Body Found in Texas Lake, Possibly Linked to Previous Incidents

Authorities in Austin, Texas, have discovered a body in Lady Bird Lake, the same location where several other deceased individuals have been found in recent months. The Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a 911 call reporting the sighting of a body in the lake. The unidentified person was pronounced dead at 1:52 p.m., according to Fox Austin.

Series of Deaths in Lady Bird Lake

This latest incident adds to a string of deaths that have occurred in Lady Bird Lake over the past year. At least five people have been found dead in this portion of the Colorado River that runs through downtown Austin. Speculation about a possible serial killer was dismissed by authorities in June 2023.

The previous victims were men in their 30s who had been drinking on Rainey Street, a popular area with bars near the water. Jason John, 30, was discovered dead in February, a week after he was last seen on Rainey Street. An autopsy report revealed that a witness saw him stumble into the water. Clifton Axtell, 40, was identified as the man found dead on March 5, while Jonathan Honey, 33, was found on April 1, a day after he was last seen at a food truck on Rainey Street. John Christopher Hays-Clark, 30, was also found in April, washed up near a dam two miles downstream from where the others were located.

Investigation Ongoing

Last week, the Austin Police Department announced that they were searching for a woman in connection with multiple cases of drugging and robbing men in downtown Austin. It remains unclear if this woman is linked to the bodies found in Lady Bird Lake.
