A Visual Showcase of Celebrity Fashion, Looks, and Trends at the Oscars Red Carpet 2024

The 2024 Oscars red carpet was a stunning showcase of celebrity fashion, looks, and trends. Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre was transformed into a glittering spectacle as stars arrived in a flurry of sequins, sparkles, and striking metallic gowns.

One standout look of the night was America Ferrera bidding farewell to her role in “Barbie” with a stunning, sparkly Versace gown in the film’s signature pink. Rita Moreno also made a statement in a black gown from Badgley Mischka, paired with a huge smile.

The red carpet was filled with glittering looks, although some played it safe with their choices. Lupita Nyong’o wowed in an Armani Privé dress adorned with feathers and sequins, while Gabrielle Union dazzled in a bedazzled Carolina Herrera number. Michelle Yeoh opted for a custom Balenciaga gown, adding to the elegant yet somewhat unadventurous evening of red-carpet fashion.

Vanessa Hudgens turned heads in a long-sleeved Vera Wang couture black dress, perfectly complemented by Chopard jewels. Emma Stone opted for a soft pastel strapless look in mint, designed by Louis Vuitton. Hailee Steinfeld embraced an ethereal blue-green Elie Saab gown, complete with wings attached at the wrist.

At the age of 92, Rita Moreno waved to photographers as she showed off her pleated taffeta and velvet gown. Brittany Snow brought a refreshing pop of color to the red carpet with a bright strapless custom Monot dress paired with a statement choker.

Cynthia Erivo shut down the carpet in deep green leather, sporting dinosaur-like spikes along the back. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski made a matching statement in off-white, with Blunt wearing Schiaparelli couture featuring shoulders that floated above her body.

The color lavender had its moment on a few celebrities, while Billie Eilish embraced a Chanel schoolgirl look with a black jacket, patterned skirt, white socks, and black Mary Janes. The “Godzilla Minus One” group made a playful entrance, carrying toy monsters.

Many men opted for black tuxedos and other black looks. Colman Domingo, a fashion star of the awards season, wore a double-breasted tuxedo by Louis Vuitton, paired with cowboy boots and a jewel-adorned bow tie. Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper also sported black tuxedos, with Gosling choosing Gucci with silver bead piping and Cooper going double-breasted in Louis Vuitton.

Sequins were a common sight among the women, with white and off-white looks also making an appearance. Sandra Hüller stood out in a custom Schiaparelli gown with extended shoulders and the perfect fit. Erika Alexander of “American Fiction” wore a white strapless gown with a black skirt trimmed in pastel tulle, designed by Christian Siriano in just four days.

Laverne Cox exuded Old Hollywood glam in a black and low-plunging gold hourglass look, complete with a feather-light neckpiece that trailed behind. Scott George, a member of the Osage Nation and the first Indigenous person to receive an Oscar nomination for best original song, made an impression in a gray look trimmed in green and purple.

The little cuties from nominated short films also made their mark on the red carpet. Porché Brinker of “The Last Repair Shop” wore an ethereal soft blue gown, while Juliet Donenfeld of “Red, White and Blue” looked all grown up in a blinged-out strapless dress.

Red was another standout color of the night, with Issa Rae stunning in plunging deep green attire adorned with sequins. Gabrielle Union also made a statement in a strong silver embellished look from Carolina Herrera, exuding an armor vibe.

Among the risk-takers was Charlotte Kemp Muhl, who walked with Sean Ono Lennon in a backless and near sideless black dress. Eugene Lee Wang donned a full ball skirt with a cropped jacket, following in the footsteps of Billy Porter. Daniel Scheinert of the Daniels wore a Fashion Brand Company jacket adorned with a snake, a buzzy brand worn by many comedians.

While many men opted for black, Taylor Zakhar Perez stood out in a powder blue suit. Simu Liu of “Barbie” brought the Kenergy with a black Fendi look and a wrap-around jacket closed with a brooch.

In addition to the fashion statements, some attendees used their lapels to call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. Ramy Youssef, Mark Ruffalo, Mahershala Ali, and Finneas were among those wearing red pins as part of the Artists4Ceasefire campaign.

Now that all the Academy Awards have been handed out, it’s time to celebrate! Don’t miss “Live With Kelly and Mark: After the Oscars,” live from the Oscars stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Monday at 9 a.m.
