Two Arrested After Police Chase Ends in South Boston

Two individuals have been arrested following a police chase that concluded in South Boston. Kailyn Almeida, 23, from Bridgewater, and Christopher A. Meade, 30, from Malden, are now facing multiple charges related to the pursuit.

Vehicle Connected to Shooting Spotted

Massachusetts State Police reported that at 10:19 p.m. on Monday, a trooper noticed a vehicle that may have been involved in a shooting entering Dorchester from Quincy via the Neponset Avenue Bridge.

High-Speed Pursuit

Upon activating his lights to stop the vehicle, the trooper observed the driver accelerating and fleeing the scene. The chase ensued from Morrissey Boulevard to Day Boulevard and eventually reached Castle Island.

Both state and Boston police were called in to assist in apprehending Almeida, who was driving the car, and Meade, who was a passenger.

Suspects Apprehended

While nearing Castle Island, law enforcement deployed a tire deflation device, causing damage to the vehicle. Despite this, the suspects continued to travel for a short distance at a reduced speed. Eventually, both individuals fled on foot but were later apprehended in the vicinity of F and West 1st streets.

During a search of the area, a firearm and ballistics evidence were discovered on the ground next to the heavily-damaged car.

Investigation Ongoing

Boston Police are currently investigating the suspects and the potential connection of the vehicle to a shooting that took place within their jurisdiction.

Charges and Arrests

Meade was arrested and charged with outstanding warrants, possession of a class B substance, possession with the intention to distribute a class B substance, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession/carrying of a firearm second offense, commission of a firearm violation after three prior violent or drug offenses, and possession of a large capacity firearm or feeding device.

Almeida, on the other hand, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, malicious destruction of property over $1200, speeding, marked lanes violation, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with property damage, and trespassing with a vehicle.
