Video Released by Veterans Who Repaired Southern Border Wall: “Lock It Down” Rap

Veterans Take Matters into Their Own Hands to Secure the US-Mexico Border

In the midst of the ongoing immigration crisis at the US-Mexico border, a group of California veterans known as the “Border Vets” has taken it upon themselves to fill in the gaps and reinforce the border. Their efforts have been showcased in a recently released rap video titled “Lock It Down,” which aims to raise awareness about their private initiative.

The Border Vets, led by retired Marine Kate Monroe, have planted hundreds of feet of razor wire and metal stakes in hotspots near Jacumba Hot Springs, just outside of San Diego. The video features a montage of these veterans working tirelessly to buttress the border, accompanied by lyrics that emphasize the need to “lock it down” and prevent unauthorized entries.

The release of this video is dedicated to Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at the University of Georgia who was tragically murdered during her morning run by a Venezuelan migrant suspect. It serves as a poignant reminder of the potential risks associated with an unsecured border and highlights the urgency felt by these veterans to address the immigration crisis.

Kate Monroe initially began her mission solo, purchasing razor wire and patching up gaps in the border. However, she soon garnered support from the Border Vets, who joined her in her endeavor. Despite facing legal questions surrounding private efforts to modify the barrier, Monroe remains undeterred. She is currently running for California’s 49th Congressional District, challenging incumbent Rep. Mike Levin, and hopes to bring attention to the border security issue.

Border security has become a contentious topic leading up to the presidential election on November 5. Both President Biden and former President Donald Trump made visits near the border in the past week, highlighting their differing approaches to the issue. Biden has defended his record on border security, pointing out that a bipartisan Senate deal to bolster security was hindered by Republicans. On the other hand, Republicans argue that the deal did not adequately address the issue, while Democrats accuse them of using the border situation for political gain.

According to figures from US Customs and Border Patrol, there were approximately 176,205 migrant encounters at the US-Mexico border in January, a decrease from the record 301,983 encounters in December. These numbers underscore the significance of addressing border security and finding effective solutions.

As rumors circulate about possible executive action from President Biden on the border, all eyes will be on his upcoming State of the Union speech. The veterans of Border Vets, along with Kate Monroe, hope that their rap video and their continued efforts will shed light on the need for action and collaboration to secure the US-Mexico border.

The video released by the Border Vets is a powerful testament to the determination and dedication of these veterans in protecting their country. Their private initiative serves as a call to action for policymakers and citizens alike to come together and find viable solutions to the immigration crisis. In a time of political division, these veterans are reminding us that national security should transcend partisan interests and unite us in safeguarding our borders.
