Clear Lake alumna chosen to perform national anthem at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Clear Lake High School alumna, MSG Tracy Labrecque, had the honor of performing the National Anthem at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on February 28th. As an Army Soloist and member of The U.S. Army Voices, Labrecque’s performance was especially poignant on Armed Forces Appreciation Day.

Labrecque, reflecting on the experience, shared that singing for veterans is one of the most challenging performances due to the immense emotions involved. “They are so proud of their service,” Labrecque said. “Getting to see that in their faces when I sing to them and for them is just indescribable almost, just overwhelmingly emotional in those times.”

Labrecque’s journey to becoming a musician in the military was unexpected. She admitted that she had no idea such an opportunity existed. However, once she discovered the multitude of possibilities the army had to offer, it became an obvious choice for her. “As I grew to learn more about the opportunity and see all the different things the army had to offer, it was a no brainer,” Labrecque said.

Her talent and dedication have allowed her to perform across the country, including for Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. Labrecque’s passion for music and her deep respect for the armed forces make her performances truly remarkable.
