Vehicle Fire at Waltham Medical Facility Leads to Evacuation
WALTHAM, MASS. – A vehicle caught fire next to a Waltham medical facility, resulting in the evacuation of dozens of people. Fortunately, there were no major injuries reported during the incident.
Fire Breaks Out in Patient Parking Garage
The vehicle fire occurred on Monday morning in the patient parking garage at Mass General Waltham, according to a statement issued by Mass General Brigham. Firefighters and police were called to the scene, and access to the medical center was temporarily closed off.
Evacuation and Minor Injuries
A portion of the facility closest to the fire was evacuated as a precautionary measure. The fire chief of Waltham reported that four people were transported from the scene, with one person treated for smoke inhalation.
Quick Response and Extinguishment
The cause of the vehicle fire has not been determined yet, but Mass General Brigham officials stated that it was quickly extinguished. The Waltham Fire Department and the Mass General Waltham staff were commended for their swift response and assistance.
