Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, known for her role on the hit reality show “Jersey Shore,” recently opened up about how she first applied to be a part of the show. In an interview with The Post, she revealed that when she was 21 years old, she and her friends were passing around a survey during their final weekend at the shore in Belmar, New Jersey. Without giving it much thought, Giancola decided to fill out the survey and send in her picture.
To her surprise, Giancola was called in for interviews and found herself in the house where the show was being filmed. She admitted that at the time, she had no idea what she was really getting into. “When I did it, I was just young and having fun and partying at the shore. And I was like, ‘How cool. This is what I do on the weekends anyway,'” Giancola recalled.
“Jersey Shore” aired from 2009 to 2012 on MTV, and its spinoff, “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” debuted in 2018. Giancola didn’t return to the show until last season, and she never expected to still be filming with her co-stars 15 years later. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “I had no idea it would turn into something that is today at all.”
Although filming the new season with her ex-boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz-Magro wasn’t ideal for Giancola, she teased that her current boyfriend, Justin May, will be prominently featured on the series this time around. “You’re going to see Justin a lot this season, a lot more than last,” she revealed. While the couple hadn’t made any Valentine’s Day plans yet, Giancola expressed that she isn’t big on the holiday but would be happy with a simple celebration.
Looking to the future, Giancola shared that getting married and becoming a mom are also on her bucket list. “I would love to have a family one day and get married,” she said. However, she takes things day by day and is open to whatever life has in store for her.
With all the experiences she has had over the past 14 years, Giancola even mentioned that she might pen a memoir one day. “I almost feel like I should write a book. I feel like a lot went on in my life for the past 14 years,” she revealed.
