DEA: Over 77M Fentanyl Pills Seized by Drug Agents in 2020

The DEA Seized Record Amounts of Fentanyl in 2023

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) made a significant breakthrough in the fight against fentanyl last year. Across the United States, the DEA confiscated over 77 million fentanyl pills and nearly 12,000 pounds of the deadly drug. This amount is enough to kill every American.

Shockingly, seven out of ten pills tested by the DEA contained a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl. It only takes 2 milligrams of this powerful opioid to cause a fatal overdose.

In some cases, fentanyl was disguised as other drugs, making it even more dangerous. Currently, fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45.

To shed light on this silent crisis, ABC7 has produced a special documentary called “Killer High – The Silent Crisis.” This documentary explores the devastating impact of fentanyl addiction.
