Oil Prices Decline, Gold Rises
Oil Market Update
The benchmark U.S. crude oil for February delivery experienced a decline of 67 cents, settling at $73.41 per barrel on Friday. Similarly, Brent crude for March delivery fell 54 cents to $78.56 per barrel.
Gasoline and Heating Oil Prices
Wholesale gasoline prices for February delivery also dropped, decreasing by 2 cents to $2.16 per gallon. Heating oil prices for February delivery experienced a decline of 3 cents, settling at $2.66 per gallon.
Natural Gas Prices
In the natural gas market, prices for February delivery fell by 18 cents to $2.52 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Gold and Precious Metals
On a positive note, gold prices for February delivery rose by $7.70 to $2,029.30 per ounce. However, silver prices for March delivery fell by 10 cents to $22.71 per ounce. In contrast, March copper prices rose by 4 cents to $3.79 per pound.
Currency Exchange Rates
The dollar weakened against the Japanese yen, falling to 148.19 yen from 148.24 yen. On the other hand, the euro strengthened against the dollar, rising to $1.0893 from $1.0861.
