An Arkansas Cowboy Rescues Stranded Calf from Frozen Pond
In a heartwarming act of bravery, an Arkansas cowboy came to the rescue of a stranded calf trapped in a frozen pond. Max Bishop, a resident of Paragould, recounted the incident to KAIT, explaining how he swiftly responded to Caleb Albritton’s call for help.
A Heroic Rescue Mission
Bishop wasted no time and drove his truck straight to the pond where the calf was stuck. With a large lasso in hand, he skillfully roped the chilly animal and successfully pulled it to safety. Video footage captured the heartwarming moment of the rescue.
Despite facing initial difficulties due to a recent surgery, Bishop persevered. On his first attempt, he lost hold of the rope but managed to secure it on his second try, ultimately saving the calf from its icy predicament. Bishop expressed his relief, noting that the ice around the calf had already begun to break and melt.
Winter Challenges for Cattle Owners
John Lane, the owner of the calf, expressed his gratitude for Bishop’s heroic actions. He shared that winter is a particularly challenging time for his herd. As the ponds begin to melt, the calves often venture onto them, leading to dangerous situations. Lane sadly revealed that he had already lost five calves this season.
