Doja Cat Allegedly Physically Abused by Older Brother, Temporary Restraining Order Filed
According to a temporary restraining order filing obtained by Page Six, Doja Cat is allegedly being physically abused by her older brother. The documents, filed by Doja Cat’s mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, on January 12 in Los Angeles Superior Court, claim that the singer’s brother, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, knocked out her teeth and caused cuts and bruises.
Claims of Verbal Assault and Emotional Trauma
Sawyer’s filing states that Raman has verbally assaulted Doja Cat in a degrading and demeaning manner. It also claims that he has made her feel unsafe and traumatized. The Grammy-winning artist, whose birth name is Amala Ratna Zadile Dlamini, allegedly needs protection from her brother.
Allegations of Theft and Physical Abuse
In addition to the physical abuse towards Doja Cat, Sawyer claims that Raman has stolen and damaged some of her personal belongings. The filing also reveals that Sawyer herself has been physically abused by her son multiple times over the past year and has received threats to her life.
Temporary Restraining Orders and Pending Hearing
Sawyer states that she has previously obtained temporary restraining orders against Raman since 2017, but they have since expired. However, TMZ reports that a judge has granted Sawyer’s request for temporary court-ordered protection from Raman pending a hearing for a permanent restraining order. It should be noted that Doja Cat was not granted the same protection and would need to file her own restraining order request.
Response and Social Media Activity
Reps for Doja Cat have not yet responded to Page Six’s request for comment. Meanwhile, the artist has been active on her social media amid her mother’s allegations against her brother. She recently shared Coachella’s 2024 lineup on Instagram, where she will be headlining alongside Lana Del Ray, Tyler, the Creator, and No Doubt. She also posted a selfie sporting three pairs of sunglasses with a simple caption: “:).”
