Widespread Snow Blankets New England, Causing Delays and Closures

Commuters and school districts in Massachusetts faced challenging driving conditions and disruptions to classes as a result of widespread snowfall throughout the morning and early afternoon. The storm, which began on Tuesday, was expected to bring snow to much of New England, with accumulations of 3-5 inches in most areas, including the greater Boston area. The Cape and South Coast were predicted to receive 1-3 inches before the snow changed to rain later in the morning.

Changing Weather Conditions

The snow/rain line was projected to move northward throughout the afternoon, causing snow to turn into sleet for much of Boston by 2 p.m. Snow was expected to briefly return to the entire region around 8 p.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory remained in effect until 7 p.m., with scattered snow showers and light snow expected to dissipate by late Tuesday night. Cold temperatures were anticipated to persist in the region following the storm, with lows dropping below 20 degrees by Wednesday. There is also the potential for more snow on Friday.
