Quaker Oats Company Expands Recall of Granola Bars, Cereals, and Snack Foods Over Salmonella Concerns

The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo., has announced an expansion of its December recall due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall affects various products, including Quaker Chewy Granola Bars and Cereals, Cap’n Crunch Bars and select cereals, Gamesa Marias Cereal, Gatorade Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Bars, Munchies Munch Mix, and snack boxes containing these items. The recall applies to both the United States and Canada.

Although the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received 24 reports of adverse events related to the initially recalled products, there have been no confirmed cases of illness associated with these foods. Adverse events can range from medical issues to complaints about product quality or packaging. The FDA is currently investigating these reports.

Salmonella infections can lead to symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. In rare cases, these bacterial infections can be fatal. To ensure consumer safety, individuals are advised to check their pantries for any of the listed products and dispose of them accordingly. The company’s recall website provides additional information and details on reimbursement.
