Oil Prices Rise as Crude and Gasoline Futures Climb
The benchmark U.S. crude oil for February delivery experienced a significant increase of $1.47, reaching $72.24 per barrel on Tuesday. Similarly, Brent crude for March delivery rose by $1.47 to $77.59 per barrel.
Gasoline and Heating Oil Prices Also Surge
Wholesale gasoline for February delivery saw a rise of 5 cents, reaching $2.08 per gallon. Additionally, February heating oil experienced a 7-cent increase, reaching $2.65 per gallon. Moreover, February natural gas rose by 21 cents to $3.19 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Gold and Silver Prices Decline
On the other hand, gold for February delivery fell by 50 cents to $2,033 per ounce. Similarly, silver for March delivery experienced a decline of 22 cents, reaching $23.09 per ounce. Additionally, March copper fell by 5 cents to $3.76 per pound.
Foreign Exchange Rates
The dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 144.55 yen from 144.11 Japanese yen. Conversely, the euro weakened, falling to $1.0925 from $1.0963.
