Husband Pleads Guilty to Fatally Stabbing Wife in Front of Teenage Son

**Horrifying Murder Unfolds in Long Island Suburb**

In a shocking incident that unfolded in a peaceful Long Island suburb, Ryszard Murawski, a 44-year-old husband, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the brutal stabbing of his wife, Wioleta Murawski. The crime occurred outside their Lindenhurst home on January 3, 2024, as their teenage son returned home and witnessed the horrifying scene.

The couple’s 15-year-old son had been at a friend’s house when he heard his mother’s desperate cries for help. Rushing to the backyard, he was met with the sight of his own father repeatedly stabbing his mother with a large, serrated knife. Displaying immense bravery, the young boy intervened, jumping on his father and allowing his mother to escape.

Wioleta Murawski managed to stumble across the street before collapsing, leaving behind a trail of substantial blood. Her son, distraught and determined to save his mother’s life, immediately called 911 for police assistance.

The 38-year-old victim was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip but was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival. Wioleta Murawski was remembered as an outgoing person who dedicated her life to raising her two sons and giving them a brighter future. The loss of such a loving mother, sister, friend, and colleague deeply impacted those who knew her.

Meanwhile, Ryszard Murawski fled the scene in his black GMC pick-up truck while his heartbroken son made the distressing call for help. Police initiated a pursuit, with Murawski leading multiple officers on a chase spanning over seven miles. Eventually, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a building near New York and West Hoffman avenues in Lindenhurst.

The brutal attack was captured by the family’s home surveillance system, providing crucial evidence for the case against Ryszard Murawski. With the evidence stacked against him, the husband admitted to the fatal stabbing of his wife.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney described the murder as a tragic case of domestic violence, emphasizing the devastating impact it had on both Wioleta Murawski and their son. Tierney urged anyone in an abusive relationship to seek help and emphasized that domestic violence is never the answer.

At the time of his arrest, Murawski faced additional charges for violating an order of protection that had been issued against him by his wife just a week prior to the murder. As a result, he is expected to be sentenced to 22 years to life in prison. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 17, 2024.

This horrifying incident serves as a stark reminder of the alarming prevalence of domestic violence and the urgent need for support and intervention for victims trapped in abusive relationships. It is crucial that communities come together to raise awareness and provide resources for those in need, ensuring that tragedies like this can be prevented in the future.
