Allen Lazard Shines with Touchdowns in Jets’ Monday Night Game

Allen Lazard’s performance on Monday night showcased a significant improvement compared to his previous season with the Jets. In 2023, Lazard faced challenges when Aaron Rodgers suffered an injury, causing their game to go downhill. However, Rodgers expressed his confidence in Lazard, jokingly mentioning that he should have started the game with a stick route. Despite a drop in the first drive, Lazard played exceptionally well, impressing Rodgers with his goal-line play and blocking abilities. Lazard’s determination and resilience paid off when he caught a great fade for a touchdown and made a remarkable adjustment for another touchdown on a free play.

Rodgers commended Lazard, stating that his performance is exactly what he expects from him. What makes it even more remarkable is that Lazard has high expectations for himself as well. Last year was undoubtedly tough for him, but this season, Lazard has shown significant growth and improvement, which is evident during Monday night’s game.

Lazard’s chemistry with Rodgers was evident throughout the game. In the third quarter, Rodgers connected with Lazard for a 26-yard pass down the sideline, followed by a 36-yard touchdown after a penalty. Their history together played a crucial role in Lazard’s success as a Jet. Coach Robert Saleh acknowledged Lazard’s mental and emotional growth, highlighting how he bounced back from a drop in the first third down and continued to excel in the run and pass game.

In terms of injuries, the Jets had a walk-through instead of a full practice on Wednesday. Michael Carter II and D.J. Reed would have been limited if there had been a practice, but Saleh assured that neither of them is a concern for the upcoming game. On the other hand, former Jets safety Jamal Adams, who missed Week 1 due to a hip injury, participated fully in Wednesday’s practice with the Titans.

Regarding Haason Reddick’s holdout, there has been no progress. Despite the defensive line struggling against the Niners, Saleh attributed the lack of pressure on the opposing quarterback to the quick release of the ball.
