“58th Annual CMA Awards Nominations: Morgan Wallen Tops List with Seven Nominations”

The 58th Annual CMA Awards nominations have been announced, and Morgan Wallen leads the pack with seven nominations. Other top nominees include Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton with five nominations each, and Post Malone and Lainey Wilson with four nominations each. It’s worth noting that Wallen has been nominated for the top prize, entertainer of the year, and the male vocalist categories for the third year in a row.

The entertainer of the year category is rounded out by Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson. Fans had speculated that Beyoncé, whose country-influenced album “Cowboy Carter” was released during the eligibility window, could receive a nomination. However, that didn’t happen. Beyoncé’s album hit No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart earlier this year, making her the first Black woman to achieve this since the chart’s inception in 1964. The album was a result of Beyoncé’s personal experience of not feeling welcomed in the country music industry, likely referring to a 2016 CMAs performance that faced racist backlash.

The CMA Awards are nominated and voted on by members of the Country Music Association, including music executives, artists, publicists, songwriters, and other industry professionals. The awards will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 20, on ABC and the following day on Hulu.
