Burger King Cook Receives Measly Gift After 30 Years of Service, Starts New Culinary Venture

Kevin Ford, the Nevada Burger King cook who gained internet fame in 2022 for receiving a lackluster gift from his supervisors after 27 years of service, has exciting plans for the future. According to TMZ, Ford intends to open a food truck in partnership with his daughter, Seryna, after raising over $400,000 through a GoFundMe campaign.

Seryna, who appreciates her father’s dedication and the support he provided to their family, created the GoFundMe page to express her gratitude. She explained that Kevin had started working at Burger King 27 years ago as a single father, and his commitment to the job allowed him to provide for his four daughters. The excellent healthcare coverage provided by the unionized employer also enabled all of his daughters to complete their education with full healthcare benefits.

The GoFundMe campaign far exceeded its initial $200 goal, raising an impressive $459,800. With this money, Ford purchased a black and silver food truck from China for approximately $20,000. The food truck, named K27Y as a tribute to Kevin’s viral fame, comes fully equipped with an oven and fryer, making it a versatile mobile kitchen.

Ford and his daughter, who received training at the prestigious French culinary school Le Cordon Bleu, plan to start their food truck venture with a basic menu consisting of hamburgers and hot dogs. However, Kevin expressed his desire to incorporate Filipino dishes into the menu as a tribute to his Filipina fiancée.

Despite his new entrepreneurial endeavor, Ford remains a dedicated worker at Burger King. However, he plans to retire by May 2025, which will mark his 30th anniversary with the company. The purchase of the food truck and his new home were made possible by the overwhelming support from the GoFundMe campaign.

Ford recently closed on his first home, a three-bedroom, two-bath house in Pahrump, Nevada, which he bought for $177,000. In a heartfelt video posted on Instagram, he expressed his gratitude to the donors, acknowledging that the house needed some work but emphasizing that it was his own and a testament to their generosity.

As for the food truck, K27Y plans to start small with pop-up events in the area where Ford purchased his home. The grand opening is scheduled for October and will take place at a local Home Depot.

Kevin Ford’s story not only highlights the power of viral fame and community support but also showcases the resilience and dedication of individuals working in the fast food industry. Despite receiving a disappointing gift from his employer, Ford’s unwavering commitment to his job and his family has now opened doors to new opportunities. With his daughter by his side, he is embarking on an exciting culinary adventure that will not only honor his heritage but also provide delicious food to the local community.
