Colorado Dentist Arrested for Allegedly Traveling 2,000 Miles to Florida to Have Sex with Single Mom and 9-Year-Old Daughter

Colorado dentist, Dr. Jason James Atha, has been arrested for allegedly traveling to Florida with the intention of having sexual relations with a single mother and her 9-year-old daughter. The shocking details of this case highlight the dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilance in protecting our children.

According to a federal indictment, Atha had been grooming the mother, who was actually an undercover agent, on an online chatroom since October of last year. The investigation revealed that the mother had posted about giving her young daughter sex toys during playtime, which caught Atha’s attention. In response, he expressed his desire to be a part of such activities, stating, “I would sooo love to be a part of that.” This disturbing comment is just a glimpse into the explicit and graphic nature of their conversations.

The dentist allegedly continued to exchange sexually explicit messages with the undercover agent over the following months. The conversations became increasingly explicit, with Atha expressing his desire to find a mother-daughter duo to engage in sexual activities with. The fact that Atha, a trusted professional in the community, would engage in such reprehensible behavior is deeply troubling.

Last week, Atha’s plans to meet the woman and her daughter came to a halt when he was apprehended at Palm Beach International Airport. Federal prosecutors revealed that he had child pornography and sex paraphernalia in his possession at the time of his arrest. It is truly horrifying to think about what could have transpired had he not been caught.

The details of this case serve as a stark reminder of the need for online safety measures and the importance of monitoring our children’s online activities. It is crucial for parents to educate themselves and their children about the dangers of online grooming and to maintain open lines of communication. Additionally, law enforcement agencies must continue to prioritize investigations into these types of crimes and work diligently to bring perpetrators to justice.

Atha now faces charges of attempted enticement of a minor and, if convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison. This case serves as a chilling reminder that predators can be found in any profession and that we must remain vigilant in protecting our children from harm.
