Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Visit to Colombia: Showering Vice President Francia Márquez with Gifts

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry embarked on their four-day trip to Colombia, bringing along mystery gifts for the country’s Vice President, Francia Márquez. The couple was personally invited by Márquez after being moved by their tell-all Netflix documentary. Upon their arrival in Bogotá, Meghan presented Márquez, the first black woman to hold the position in Colombia, with a thoughtful “personal gift.” The two women then posed for photos together, and Márquez expressed her admiration for Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were invited to Márquez’s private residence, where they shared tea, coffee, and traditional Colombian pan de bono. The couple was seen holding hands as they explored the streets of Bogotá, with a packed schedule ahead of them. They attended an Insight Session at a local children’s school and participated in a summit focused on creating positive online environments, a cause they are passionate about. Later, they met with students, attended a luncheon hosted by Márquez, and had a get-together with Colombia’s Invictus Games participants.

Colombia holds a special place for Prince Harry, as it became the first South American country to join his Invictus Games, an event he launched in 2014 for wounded, injured, or sick military service members. In addition to Bogotá, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also visit Cartagena and Cali during their trip, further strengthening their ties with the country.

Interestingly, just before their departure, the couple faced a setback as their chief of staff, Josh Kettler, resigned after only three months in the role. The reason for his departure was revealed shortly before their trip. Despite this, Meghan and Harry remain committed to their engagements and continue to travel internationally, as seen in their recent trip to Nigeria.

This visit to Colombia showcases Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s dedication to their philanthropic work and their efforts to connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds. The couple’s presence in Colombia not only brings attention to important causes but also fosters diplomatic relations and goodwill between nations.
