Brazosport ISD Teacher Charged with Child Sex Crimes

CLUTE, Texas (KTRK) — A Brazosport ISD teacher, who once won the teacher of the year award, is charged with twelve counts of child sex crimes from 2007.

Indictment Details

Bradyn Hargrove was indicted on six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact, and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure, according to court documents.

Victim Comes Forward

The victim, a 15-year-old girl who was a student in 2007, came forward to the Clute Police Department in September to report the allegations. The incidents occurred off-campus and continued for two years, according to Police Chief James Fitch.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation spanned over two years, with witnesses playing a crucial role in providing information. Chief Fitch expressed his concern over such incidents happening more frequently and highlighted the importance of trust between parents, students, and teachers.

Employment Actions Taken

Following the police’s notification of the investigation in September, Hargrove was placed on administrative leave by the district. After the charges were filed, the district initiated employment-related actions to separate her from her position.

“Please know that our responsibility to care for and protect the children entrusted to us is never taken lightly. If any parents, students, or former students have concerns, please contact Brazoswood High School Principal Rita Pintavalle or Brazosport ISD Police Chief Wade Nichols. Brazosport ISD expects the highest standard of professionalism and integrity from its employees to ensure a safe learning environment,” the district’s statement read.

Legal Proceedings

Hargrove has posted a $240,000 bond. When approached for comment on the allegations, her attorney stated that she has no comment at this time. Chief Fitch confirmed that there are no other victims currently under investigation but urged anyone with information to contact the Clute Police Department.
