Celine Dion in Final Stages of Planning Las Vegas Residency: TMZ

Celine Dion, the legendary singer, is reportedly in the final stages of planning a comeback Las Vegas residency, according to TMZ. Sources claim that Dion, who has been living with stiff person syndrome, has been negotiating with Resorts World for several months, with the residency expected to begin in late 2024 or early 2025. While the show is not expected to be long-running, one source assured TMZ that it is a done deal and that Dion has a passion for getting back onstage.

Dion, who announced her stiff person syndrome diagnosis in December 2022, took an indefinite hiatus from performing. In an emotional social media video, she shared her struggles with her health and the difficulties she faced. However, despite her diagnosis, Dion expressed her desire to perform again, stating that singing is what she knows and loves.

Stiff person syndrome is a rare condition that affects one to two in a million people, causing painful muscle spasms and stiffness throughout the body. Dion had already delayed a Las Vegas residency in October 2021 due to severe muscle spasms before ultimately canceling all her concert dates in 2023 and 2024. In May 2023, she also canceled her “Courage” world tour to prioritize her health.

Dion’s journey with the challenging diagnosis was documented in her “I Am: Celine Dion” documentary, which premiered in June. The film showcased her vulnerability, including a moment where she experienced a prolonged and agonizing seizure. Despite these struggles, Dion is determined to return to the stage and is expected to make a performance during the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony. While the performance has not been confirmed, Dion was seen greeting fans in Paris ahead of the Games.

It is worth noting that Dion’s doctor explained that she was “overstimulated” from her time in the studio, which caused concerns about performing in front of fans again. While the Las Vegas residency and the performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony have not been officially confirmed by Dion’s team, fans are eagerly awaiting her return to the stage and are hopeful to see her make a comeback in the near future.
