Rare Indiana Jones Fedora from “Temple of Doom” Set to Fetch Up to $500,000 at Auction

Indiana Jones’ iconic fedora from the 1984 film “Temple of Doom” is set to be auctioned off next month, and experts predict that it could sell for up to $500,000. The hat, worn by Harrison Ford in the movie, is considered one of the most significant Indiana Jones memorabilia ever handled by auction house Propstore.

Brandon Alinger, the COO of Propstore, expressed his excitement about the hat, stating, “It’s one of the nicest Indiana Jones pieces that we’ve ever handled.” He described the hat as having all the authentic details that fans would expect, including the marking “IJ” inside. This marking is consistent with other genuine Indiana Jones hats that have been previously seen. Alinger also pointed out that the hat shows signs of wear and has traces of makeup on the interior, further adding to its appeal.

The fedora originally belonged to Dean Ferrandini, the stuntman for Harrison Ford, who sadly passed away last year. Alongside the hat, Propstore will be auctioning off 1,900 other memorabilia items from various movies and TV shows at their second entertainment memorabilia live auction of the year. Among these items is an original Sankara Stone from “Temple of Doom,” a sacred rock sought after by Indiana Jones in the film. This stone is expected to fetch a price between $25,000 and $50,000.

Other notable items that are likely to attract attention include John Travolta’s leather jacket from “Saturday Night Fever,” Dan Aykroyd’s suit from “The Blues Brothers,” and the Ghostface costume from the original “Scream” movie. The auction will also feature props and costumes from popular TV shows like “Laverne and Shirley” and “Breaking Bad.” With such a diverse range of items available, collectors and fans alike will have plenty to look forward to.

Bidding for the auction can be done online at propstore.com/liveauction, as well as in person at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. The auction will take place from August 15th to 18th, and it is anticipated to generate around $10 million in sales. This estimate is based on the success of Propstore’s first entertainment auction earlier this year, which brought in an impressive $8 million from the sale of over 1,700 items.

Overall, this upcoming auction is a golden opportunity for collectors and fans to acquire unique and valuable pieces of movie history. The Indiana Jones fedora, in particular, holds a special place in the hearts of fans and will undoubtedly be a highly sought-after item. With the added allure of other iconic props and costumes, this auction promises to be an exciting event for movie enthusiasts and collectors alike.
