The Decline of President Biden: A Cause for Concern

Introduction:
Every day, it seems, the president of the United States wanders off during a photo shoot or tries to shake hands with an imaginary person or garbles his way through another speech, and the rest of us are expected to go on with our day as if everything is just fine. But it’s not fine. He’s not fine.

The President’s Behavior: Doddering and Scatterbrained
It’s important to address Joe Biden’s behavior without attributing it to his temper, alleged stutter, or habit of inventing stories about his past. Rather, what we’re witnessing is the doddering and scatterbrained behavior that many can relate to when dealing with an aging relative. According to one diplomatic insider attending this week’s G7, the 81-year-old president is “the worst he has ever been.” The Wall Street Journal recently detailed numerous instances of Biden slipping behind closed doors, but we didn’t need a peek behind those doors to see his wobbling on stairs and teetering offstage.

Debunking Claims of Edited Videos
Biden’s defenders claim that videos portraying his embarrassing moments were edited to make him look bad. Joe Scarborough even goes so far as to call them “cheap fakes” and “vicious lies.” However, anyone who has watched the fuller video of Biden’s interactions at the G-7 meeting knows that Scarborough is mistaken. The context only accentuates Biden’s confusion and odd behavior at events like the D-Day remembrance and Juneteenth celebration. Even when he manages to pull himself together for speeches or media appearances, they’re increasingly incomprehensible and filled with gaffes.

Good Days and Bad Days for the Elderly
While Biden may have moments where he appears more lucid, it doesn’t prove that he is consistently okay. It’s a well-known fact that older individuals have good days and bad ones. We must acknowledge that Biden’s mental and physical decline is not his fault; it’s an expected part of aging. However, most Americans in their 80s have long retired and are not making crucial daily decisions that impact millions of lives. It is catastrophically irresponsible for Biden, with the support of his handlers and the Democratic Party, to run for the presidency when he struggles with even the basic responsibilities of the job.

The Age Factor: A Legitimate Campaign Issue
Biden’s age has become a legitimate campaign issue. While he may hold the incumbency and enjoy political perks, he is not a generational talent that America cannot live without, like Churchill. There are numerous Democrats who would gladly take his place at the top of the ticket, some of whom are more popular. Detesting Donald Trump does not change the reality of Biden’s decline, as Trump himself is no spring chicken. Voters must consider the president’s mental alertness and physical state now and question what it will be like in four years. It’s unlikely that Biden will miraculously become sharper with time.
