Oil Prices Rise: Benchmark U.S. Crude Oil Hits $72.47 per Barrel

The price of benchmark U.S. crude oil for January delivery has increased by $1.04, reaching $72.47 per barrel on Monday. Similarly, Brent crude for February delivery rose by $1.40, reaching $77.95 per barrel.

Gasoline and Heating Oil Prices Also Increase

In addition to the rise in oil prices, wholesale gasoline for January delivery has increased by 2 cents, reaching $2.16 per gallon. Furthermore, January heating oil has risen by 5 cents, reaching $2.67 per gallon. January natural gas has also seen a slight increase of 1 cent, reaching $2.50 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold Prices Experience a Boost

Gold prices have seen a positive trend as well, with February delivery seeing a rise of $4.80, reaching $2,040.50 per ounce. However, silver for March delivery fell by 4 cents to $24.11 per ounce, and March copper fell by 4 cents to $3.85 per pound.

Foreign Exchange Rates

The dollar has strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 142.90 yen from 142.19 Japanese yen. Similarly, the euro has also risen, reaching $1.0917 from $1.0899.
