66-year-old Royal Caribbean cruise passenger with dementia goes missing during vacation in Mexico

A 66-year-old American cruise passenger, Edmond Bradley Solomon III, has gone missing during a vacation in Mexico. Solomon, who was recently diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, vanished while on a trip with his family on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas. The former critical care nurse had disembarked from the ship in Cozumel, Mexico, and disappeared shortly after. His wife noticed his absence when she came out of a restroom break and he was nowhere to be found. A search and rescue operation was launched, and local authorities received a call from a taxi driver who claimed to have picked up a tourist matching Solomon’s description. The search efforts have so far been unsuccessful, and the distressed family is seeking assistance from the public.

Solomon’s daughter, Savanah Miller, spoke about her father’s condition, stating that he sometimes says odd things and behaves erratically due to his dementia. She mentioned that he is unable to process information in the same way as others. Miller flew to Mexico to help in the search for her father and expressed her hope of finding him soon.

The search has focused on the area surrounding Isla de la Pasión, but Solomon has not been located. Local police reported a possible sighting of him wandering around the urban area. Photos captured the search and rescue efforts, which have taken place both during the day and at night. Despite the dedication of authorities and the support of the community, Solomon remains missing.

Solomon’s wife, Mimi, is his full-time caregiver following his dementia diagnosis. The couple, both nurses in the Charleston area, had boarded the Icon of the Seas in Miami and made several stops before reaching Cozumel. Miller described her father as someone who always cared for and helped others. She expressed her gratitude for the support they have received and mentioned that a GoFundMe campaign was set up to assist the family during this difficult time.

As the search for Edmond Bradley Solomon III continues, his family remains hopeful for his safe return. They appreciate any information or assistance from the public and are grateful for the outpouring of support they have received. The search efforts will persist until he is found, and they are looking forward to being reunited with their beloved husband and father.
