Toddler Becomes Youngest Person to Reach Mount Everest’s Base Camp

A 2-year-old toddler from Glasgow, Scotland, has made history by becoming the youngest person to reach Mount Everest’s base camp. Carter Dallas and his parents, Ross and Jade Dallas, embarked on this adventure during their year-long trip across Asia.

A Whim Turned Adventure

Carter Dallas reached the base camp, located 17,598 feet above sea level, on October 25. This achievement makes him two years younger than the previous record holder, a 4-year-old from the Czech Republic. The decision to take Carter to the base camp was made “on a whim” by his parents, who quickly prepared for the trek by purchasing jackets and sleeping bags.

A Surprising Journey

The Dallas family wasted no time and started the trek within 24 hours of arriving in Kathmandu. Ross Dallas and his wife wore regular sneakers for the adventure, and despite experiencing slight altitude sickness, they were amazed at how well Carter coped throughout the journey. Medical professionals who checked on the toddler during the trek were astounded by his condition.

Preparation and Travel

Ross Dallas, a former senior sales manager, attributed their successful journey to their regular practice of breathing techniques and ice baths. The family had rented out their home in Scotland and embarked on their year-long travel in August 2023. They have already visited India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Malaysia. Currently, they are exploring the jungles of Khao Sok in Thailand, with Bangkok and Cambodia as their upcoming destinations.

Carter Dallas has not only experienced different cultures but has also developed a taste for exotic dishes like fish curries and chicken feet. Ross Dallas hopes that their journey will inspire others to venture out and explore the world. The family’s determination and Carter’s remarkable achievement at such a young age serve as a testament to the spirit of adventure and resilience.
