Over 10 Million People Sign Up for X in December, Says X CEO Linda Yaccarino

X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced on Thursday that more than 10 million people have signed up for X in December. This comes as a significant milestone for the platform, formerly known as Twitter, which does not regularly release user data. The exact comparison to average sign-ups or the reason behind Yaccarino’s disclosure remains unknown as X could not be reached for comment.

It is worth noting that billionaire owner Elon Musk had previously stated in July that X had 540 million monthly users. However, this recent surge in sign-ups suggests a potential increase in user engagement and interest in the platform.

Major Companies Pause Advertisements on X

In November, several prominent companies, including Apple, Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, Comcast, Lions Gate Entertainment, Paramount Global, and IBM, made the decision to temporarily halt their advertisements on X. This move came after a report from watchdog group Media Matters revealed that ads from these companies were appearing next to X posts that supported Nazism.

The revelation of such inappropriate content alongside advertisements prompted these companies to take action and distance themselves from the platform. The severity of the situation led X to file a lawsuit against Media Matters in late November, accusing the watchdog group of defamation.

As X continues to address these concerns and work towards creating a safer online environment, the platform’s ability to attract new users remains evident with the significant number of sign-ups in December.

Overall, the recent surge in user registrations on X showcases the platform’s potential for growth and highlights the importance of maintaining a vigilant approach towards content moderation and user safety.
