Attempted Home Invasion in Houston: Suspects on the Loose

Houston Home Invasion

The Houston Police Department is currently searching for two suspects involved in an attempted robbery outside a man’s home in northeast Houston. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when the victim was getting out of his car on Caplin Street.

Police Response

Authorities received a distress call around 12:30 a.m. and quickly responded to the scene. According to reports, the suspects forced the man up to his front door. However, a person inside the house witnessed the incident and opened fire on the suspects. Gunfire was exchanged between the parties involved.

Lieutenant T. Trometer stated, “Those suspects then returned fire and fled the scene. Shortly after that, police units arrived and were able to locate one of the suspects in a nearby neighborhood. He had injuries, gunshot wounds to the legs and one to the arm.”

The injured suspect was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Crime Statistics in Trinity Gardens Neighborhood

The attempted home invasion took place in the Trinity Gardens neighborhood, where robbery rates had been steadily declining from 2019 to 2022. However, in the last 12 months, the number of robberies increased from 109 to 121, according to the ABC13 Neighborhood Safety Tracker.

Ongoing Investigation

The Houston Police Department is actively investigating the incident and searching for the remaining two suspects involved in the attempted home invasion. It is currently unknown if the police have any leads on their whereabouts or if any charges have been filed.

Community Safety

The victim of the home invasion shared his harrowing experience, stating that one of the suspects forcefully entered his home, tied him up, and held him at gunpoint while ransacking his property. Police later discovered that one of the suspects had attempted to use the victim’s credit card to purchase shoes.

Fortunately, no one else inside the house was injured during the incident.
